Academic Requirements

To be admissible to study at Sault College, international students must meet the following requirements:

• The equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma at the College preparation level or higher is needed.
• For post-diploma programs, a high school diploma plus a College or University diploma or degree is required.
• If there is a 5-year gap between the last studies and the application to Sault College, a Resume/CV may be required.
• Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as many programs are competitive and program ranking can occur.
• Higher academic achievement may be required for some programs when ranking occurs.

To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing: Possession of a four-year accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
• Registered Nurse Status: Current registration as a nurse in the country where the original nursing education was obtained.
• Clinical Experience: At least one year of clinical nursing experience within the last two years.
• English Language Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following:
• TOEFL (iBT): Minimum score of 88 with no individual test below 21.
• IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0.
• PTE Academic: Minimum score of 60.
• CAEL: Overall score of 70 with no part below 60.
• Cambridge English Exam (C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency): Minimum score of 176 with no individual test below 169.
• Duolingo English Test: Minimum score of 120 with no band below 115.
• Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB): Level 8 for all areas (reading, writing, speaking, listening).

Note: English language proficiency test results must be from within two years of the program start date.

For international students, the following documents are typically required based on their country of education:

• Official academic records, which may need to be translated into English.
• Documents must be attested as “true copies” by the educational institution.
• Specific requirements vary by country, including various certificates and diplomas.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

To demonstrate English proficiency for the Internationally Educated Nurses - Nursing In Canada program at Sault College, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• TOEFL score of 88 for the Internet-based Test (iBT) and no test below 21
• IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0
• Cambridge English Exam C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a Cambridge Score of 176 or more with no single test score below 169
• PTE Academic 60
• Duolingo 120, no band below 115
• CAEL overall band score of 70 and no part below 60
• Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 8 for all areas: reading, writing, speaking, listening

The minimum requirement is Bachelor's in Nursing & registration/licensing as a nurse.
