The Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nurses is a unique two-year graduate certificate program designed for experienced internationally educated nurses who hold a four-year bachelor's degree in nursing. This program aims to equip students with essential nursing knowledge and skills necessary to practice within the Canadian healthcare system, particularly focusing on caring for seniors throughout the continuum of care. Students will engage in active learning environments, including nursing labs and immersive simulation suites, while developing professional practices such as nursing assessment, intervention, care planning, and critical inquiry. The program is aligned with the College of Nurses of Ontario's professional standards and entry-to-practice competencies for Registered Nurses.

The Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nurses program is structured to provide a comprehensive educational experience over a period of two years. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Hybrid delivery format, combining online and in-person learning.
  • Field placements in diverse healthcare settings, including medicine, surgery, complex continuing care, and long-term care.
  • Over 400 hours of hands-on clinical experience.
  • Incorporation of the Transition to Nursing Practice course, approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Emphasis on various evaluation methodologies, including scholarly writing, case studies, projects, presentations, and simulated patient encounters.

This program is designed to ensure that students are well-prepared for the nursing registration examination, including NCLEX and OSCE style courses.
