Program Overview

Centennial College's Biotechnology Fast-Track program is designed for qualified college or university graduates who wish to earn a diploma in just one year (two semesters). This program allows students to gain direct admission into the second year of the two-year Biotechnology program, preparing them for careers as laboratory technicians in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The curriculum emphasizes practical training in microbiology and chemistry, including analytical, organic, and biochemistry. A unique aspect of this program is its project-focused approach, where students engage in independently designed microbiology projects that enhance their problem-solving and research skills.

Program Structure

The Biotechnology Fast-Track program is structured as follows:

  • Program Length: 1 year / 2 semesters
  • Delivery Mode: Hybrid
  • Location: Morningside Campus
  • Program Options: Students have the option to graduate as a biotechnician in one year or continue for a second year to study specialized topics.

This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of laboratory techniques, including aseptic handling, calibration of instruments, and microbiological media preparation. The hands-on training ensures that students are well-prepared for the workforce upon graduation.
