Program Overview

The Biotechnology - Advanced (Optional Co-op) program at Centennial College is designed to equip students with essential scientific principles, techniques, and skills necessary for careers in industrial microbiology and chemistry. This comprehensive program covers a range of topics including biotechnology applications, biochemistry, microbial genetics, and both clinical and environmental microbiology. Students will gain hands-on experience and learn to isolate, identify, and analyze microorganisms, as well as utilize advanced laboratory instruments. The program aims to prepare graduates for a dynamic and evolving field, ensuring they are well-versed in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Program Structure

The Biotechnology - Advanced program is structured to be completed in a 3-year format, encompassing a total of 6 semesters. The program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online learning experiences. Students have the option to participate in a co-op program, which allows them to gain valuable work experience in the field while completing their studies. This co-op option is designed to enhance the learning experience by providing real-world applications of classroom knowledge. The program is available at the Morningside Campus, ensuring students have access to modern facilities and resources.
