Program Overview

The Mining Engineering Bridge to UBC program at Camosun College is designed for graduates of technology diplomas who aspire to continue their education and enter the third year of an engineering degree at the University of British Columbia (UBC). This program serves as a vital step towards becoming a professional engineer, providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of mining engineering. The program is unique in Canada, recognized for its effective transition from a technology diploma to an engineering degree, ensuring that students are well-prepared for advanced studies and future careers in engineering.

Program Structure

The Mining Engineering Bridge to UBC program is structured to provide a comprehensive educational experience over a duration of 8 months. The program includes:

  • Two academic terms, each consisting of 14 weeks of classes followed by an exam period.
  • Classes scheduled for 25-28 hours per week, with an expected homework commitment of about three to four hours daily.
  • Full-time study options available, accommodating both domestic and international students.
  • Co-op and internship opportunities, allowing students to gain practical work experience.

Students will begin their studies in September and complete the program by April, after which they can transition into the third year of the Bachelor of Applied Science degree at UBC Vancouver. The optional internship work term is available from May through August, providing additional hands-on experience in the field.
