The Mechanical Engineering Bridge to UVic program is designed for graduates of technology diplomas who aspire to continue their education and transition into third-year studies at the University of Victoria (UVic) or the University of British Columbia (UBC). This program serves as a crucial step towards becoming a professional engineer, equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the engineering field. Program structure

The Mechanical Engineering Bridge to UVic program is structured to provide a comprehensive educational experience over a period of 8 months. The program includes:

  • Two academic terms, each consisting of 14 weeks of classes followed by an exam period.
  • Classes scheduled for 25-28 hours per week, with an expected homework commitment of about three to four hours per day.
  • Full-time study options available.
  • Mandatory co-op participation upon acceptance into UVic, with potential for transferable work terms from previous technology diplomas.
  • An optional internship work term available from May to August.

This program is unique in Canada, recognized for its effective transition from a technology diploma to an engineering degree, and is open to graduates from accredited Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) programs.
