Program Overview

Welcome to the Chemical Engineering Technician program at Cambrian College! This program is designed for those who are passionate about science and technology, focusing on the research, development, production, and testing of chemical products and processes. Through hands-on training in a state-of-the-art facility, students will gain essential skills and knowledge to assist chemists and chemical engineers in various settings, ensuring quality standards and regulatory compliance. Graduates will be well-prepared for a variety of exciting career paths, both locally and internationally, including roles such as mining assayer, control technician, forensic lab analyst, and environmental technician. Our unique location in Sudbury, Ontario, the mining capital of Canada, enhances the learning experience, particularly in mineral processing and wastewater management.

Program Structure

The Chemical Engineering Technician program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of 4 semesters (2 years). The program is delivered on-campus and is full-time, ensuring that students receive an immersive learning experience. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Hands-on training in a modern laboratory environment.
  • Quality control practices integrated throughout the curriculum.
  • Opportunity for graduates to transition directly into semester five of the Chemical Engineering Technology – Lab and Process Control program for an advanced diploma.
