Program Overview

Put your electrical engineering career on the fast track with the Electrical Engineering Technology – Industrial program at Cambrian College. This technology-level program is tailored to meet the demands of various industries that depend on electrical technologists for daily operations and project work. Students will engage in hands-on experiences using industry-standard equipment, including power electronics, electrical control systems, and instrumentation. The program emphasizes practical skills, allowing students to master the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of modern electrical systems. Upon completion, graduates will earn an Ontario College Advanced Diploma, which equates to significant progress towards both Construction and Maintenance Electrician and Industrial Electrician apprenticeships.

Program Structure

The Electrical Engineering Technology – Industrial program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of 6 semesters (3 years). The program is delivered on a full-time basis at the Barry Downe campus. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and equipment.
  • Common first and second-year courses with the Electrical Engineering Technician – Industrial program.
  • Optional paid co-op opportunities to gain real-world experience.
  • Focus on commercial and industrial installations.
  • Completion of an online Lab Safety course before entering labs.
