Basic Academic Requirements

High School Diploma Equivalent
For Vietnam: the Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông (Senior Secondary School Graduation Diploma) is accepted.

Prerequisite Subjects
You must have completed equivalent of Grade 12 / Senior Secondary School with the university-preparatory level courses. For Nursing at Brock, these include:

English (ENG4U or equivalent)

Biology (SBI4U or equivalent)

Chemistry (SCH4U or equivalent)

One mathematics course at the 4U level or equivalent 

Academic Average

The program is competitive. Although there is a minimum average, many applicants have averages well above the minimum. 

For reference, Brock says “Expected cut-off: mid 80s” for this Nursing program for Ontario students.

For international applicants, usually schools expect a strong average (often equivalent to a high B+ or A-/B average in Vietnam) when converted to Canadian grading. (Exact % might depend on the quality of your high school, grading scale, etc.)

English Language Proficiency

Since Vietnam’s primary language of instruction often is not English, you’ll need to satisfy one of Brock’s accepted proofs of English proficiency:

IELTS (Academic): Overall ≥ 6.5, with no band < 6.0 

TOEFL iBT: Overall ≥ 88, with certain minimums in speaking & writing (often ≥ 21) 

PTE Academic: score ≥ 58 

Duolingo English Test: ≥ 110 

Other options: CAEL, CAE, CPE, or successful completion of Brock’s Intensive English program (IELP Level 5) etc. 

There may be exemption possibilities (e.g. if you studied in an English medium school for a number of years) but you would need to check Brock’s policy specifically. 

Other Notes / Considerations

Prerequisite Grades Minimums: For the required subjects (English, Biology, Chemistry, Math), Brock expects reasonably high marks. For example, many places list a minimum of ~ 75% in each of the prerequisites for Ontario students. For international, equivalent marks evaluated from your transcripts would be needed.

Competitive Admission: Even if you meet the minimum, you are competing with many applicants. The higher your grades in the prerequisite subjects and overall, the better your chances.

Documentation: You’ll need official transcripts, possibly evaluations (such as WES) of your high school credentials to show equivalence. Brock’s Academic Credential Requirements by Country page will show how Vietnamese credentials are considered. 

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

For students from Vietnam, the required document is the Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông (Senior School Graduation Certificate).
