The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program is an accelerated two-year Ontario College Diploma designed to enhance your employability. This program is delivered over three academic semesters and is approved by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Students will learn in the state-of-the-art Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE), where they will gain hands-on experience with both traditional and advanced technologies used in the industry. The curriculum includes essential training in electrical, refrigeration, and heating, along with vocational subjects enriched with courses in communications, mathematics, and related sciences. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to prepare for TSSA exams, which will further enhance their qualifications and job prospects.

Program structure

The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program is structured to be completed in a compressed 42-week format, allowing students to earn their diploma in just three semesters. The program includes:

  • Hands-on learning experiences in a fully outfitted facility.
  • Courses that cover essential skills in electrical, refrigeration, and heating systems.
  • Enrichment with vocational subjects such as communications, mathematics, and related sciences.
  • Preparation for TSSA exams, including Gas Technician 3 (G3), Gas Technician 2 (G2), and Oil Burner Technician 3 (OBT3).
