Program Overview
The Occupational/Physical Therapist Assistant (Rehab Assistant) program at Vancouver Community College (VCC) trains students to become skilled assistants to Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. Designed for those who want to support individuals recovering from injury or illness, the program emphasizes developing practical clinical skills along with critical thinking, communication, and cultural sensitivity. Students learn evidence-informed rehab techniques, work within interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to therapeutic plans that help clients regain function and independence. Graduates are prepared for roles in diverse healthcare environments across BC.
Program Structure
This 69-week (5‑semester) full‑time program is delivered over two academic years. The first year includes three terms focused on foundational knowledge, while the second year includes two terms dedicated to advanced practice and clinical placements.
