Are you looking forward to working in the fast-paced legal industry? The Law Clerk program at Seneca is a two-year legal paraprofessional program designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills required to work alongside lawyers in various settings, including corporate, government, or law firms. The curriculum is delivered by experienced legal professionals and focuses on key areas such as real estate, corporate and commercial law, litigation, wills and estates, and family law. Throughout the program, you will engage in workshops, law firm tours, court visits, and career preparation events, ensuring you acquire the technical skills, principles, and ethics necessary for practice. A strong emphasis is placed on effective communication skills, both verbal and written, which are critical for your success in the legal field.

Program structure

The Law Clerk program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a duration of 4 semesters (2 years). However, there is an option to complete the program in an accelerated format, allowing completion in just three semesters for those who meet specific academic criteria. The program is offered in a flexible delivery format, which includes:

  • In-person classes at Seneca@York
  • Online learning options for certain courses
  • Field placement opportunities for practical experience

Additionally, a part-time option is available for students who may need more flexibility in their studies. Throughout the program, students will develop a variety of skills, including:
