The Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology program is a unique offering in Canada, being the only aviation technology-based degree program available. This program is designed to provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge essential for a successful career in aviation. With over 50 years of experience in aviation education, Seneca has established itself as a national leader in this field. The curriculum is rigorous, ensuring that students are well-prepared to operate complex aircraft and understand various aspects of the aviation industry, including business management and airport operations.

Program structure

The Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology program spans a total of 8 semesters (4 years). The program is structured as follows:

  • Year 1: Two semesters of foundational courses followed by intensive flight training.
  • Year 2: Continued flight training across two semesters.
  • Year 3: Further flight training or a work term, depending on student progress.
  • Year 4: Completion of flight training in the final two semesters.

This program includes a mandatory degree work term, which requires students to complete at least 420 hours in a formal work environment. This work experience can be either paid or unpaid and is essential for graduation. Additionally, the program is delivered in-person, with classes held at the Newnham Campus for the first two semesters and then transitioning to the Peterborough Campus for the remainder of the program.
