This program prepares you for various roles in information technology, network security, embedded systems, robotics, and automated systems. Program structure

The Computer Engineering Technology program is a 76-week diploma offered full-time at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Moose Jaw campus. The program structure includes:

Five academic semesters of classroom study
Three mandatory four-month paid Co-operative Education work terms

This unique combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience ensures that students gain a comprehensive understanding of both hardware and software. Students will engage in hands-on lab work, lectures, and group projects, which require effective time management and initiative. Academic Requirements

The Computer Engineering Technology program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic has specific academic requirements for admission. Here are the key points:

Minimum GPA: A minimum of 60% in Pre-Calculus 30 is required for admission.
Alternative Admission: Applicants who do not meet the academic qualifications may still be considered for admission through an alternative assessment process.
ACCUPLACER© Cut Scores:
- 250 in Arithmetic
- 240 in Advanced Algebra and Functions
- 256 in Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics
- 250 in Reading
- 245 in Writing
Post-secondary Credits: Some applicants may meet the admission requirements using 15 approved post-secondary credits.

For international students, it is important to note that:

Many co-op employers require a valid Saskatchewan Driver's License and a clean Driver's Abstract. It can take up to 12 months to obtain a Driver's License in Canada, so it is beneficial to arrive with a Driver's License from your home country if possible.

Language Requirements

English is the language of instruction and examination at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. If your first or primary language is not English, and/or your country is not exempt, you will need to provide evidence of having the English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing necessary to be successful in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic program to which you are applying.

Saskatchewan students graduating from Fransaskois and French Immersion high school programs are not required to meet further English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements.

For the Computer Engineering Technology Diploma program, the following English language proficiency tests are accepted:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Academic Module: An overall band score of 7.0 with a 7.0 or higher in Speaking.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – Internet-based (iBt): A minimum overall score of 90 with minimum sub-scores of 20 in Reading and Writing, 26 in Speaking, and 22 in Listening.
Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): A minimum score of 4.5 in each of Listening, Reading, and Writing and a score of 5.0 or higher in Speaking.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) and CAEL CE: A minimum score of 70 with a minimum sub-score of 70 in all components.
