Academic Requirements

The Academic Requirements for the Interactive Design and Technology Diploma program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic are as follows:

Grade 12: A high school diploma is required for admission.
Basic Computer Literacy: To be successful in the program, you will require basic computer literacy.
Alternative Admission: Applicants who do not possess the academic qualifications for a program may be admitted if evidence of probable success can be established through an alternative admission assessment. Applicants are automatically considered for alternative admission. However, some specific Academic Requirements may still need to be met.

- Reading: 250
- Writing: 245
- Writeplacer: 4
Post-secondary Credits: Some programs allow applicants to meet the admission grade level requirement using 15 approved post-secondary credits. Specific course requirements may be met through alternative post-secondary courses.
Admission Method: The First Qualified/First Admitted (FQFA) process is used for the majority of Saskatchewan Polytechnic programs. When you meet the program's Academic Requirements, you will be offered admission based on the date you fully qualify for the program.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

English is the language of instruction and examination at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. If your first or primary language is not English, and/or your country is not exempt, you will need to provide evidence of having the English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing necessary to be successful in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic program to which you are applying.

Saskatchewan students graduating from Fransaskois and French Immersion high school programs are not required to meet further English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements.

For the Interactive Design And Technology Diploma program, the following English language proficiency tests are accepted:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Academic Module: An overall band score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.0 in each component.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – Internet-based (iBt): An overall minimum score of 81 with a minimum score of 19 in each of reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): Minimum score of 60 with a minimum score of 50 in each component.
Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): Minimum score of 4.5 in each of listening and reading, a minimum score of 4.0 in speaking, and a minimum score of 4.0 in writing.
