Program overview

Learn a range of technical skills you can use across several sectors! In this program, you'll analyze, design, develop, test, and integrate software into complex systems. With growing market demand, software engineering is one of Canada's newest engineering disciplines; however, there are few software engineering programs in Canada. At Ontario Tech University, our Software Engineering program focuses on the design of computer software and exposes students to software design for embedded systems, enterprise and mobile systems, distributed systems, real-time control systems, multimedia, and man-machine interfaces.

Program structure

The Software Engineering program at Ontario Tech University is designed to provide a comprehensive education in software development and engineering principles. The program is structured as follows:

  • Program Length: Four or five years
  • Delivery Method: In-class
  • Start Dates: September, January
  • Program Load: Full-time
  • Experiential Learning: Includes a capstone project, co-op, and internship opportunities

Students have the option to pursue a direct-entry co-op program, allowing them to gain practical experience while studying. This program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in the software engineering field.
