Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Innovation is designed for individuals eager to start their own business, lead the growth of an existing company, or guide an organization in a new direction. This program emphasizes a hands-on approach, equipping students with essential business knowledge and skills tailored to meet industry needs. Students will develop a mindset focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, preparing them to identify opportunities and implement effective solutions in dynamic markets.

Program Structure

The BBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation is structured to be completed in 4 years of full-time study. The program includes:

10 common Level 1 required courses for all business students
10 required BBA Level 2 courses specific to Entrepreneurship and Innovation
16 required BBA Level 3 and Level 4 courses in the same concentration
4 elective BBA courses from Level 3 and Level 4, which may include capstone projects with industry partners

This program also offers a co-op option, allowing students to gain valuable hands-on experience in real workplaces over three semesters. The flexible course delivery options include daytime, evening, and online classes, accommodating various schedules.

Minimum entrance requirements:

High School Applicants:
- Grade 12 Language Arts (English 30-2)
- Grade 12 Mathematics (Math 30-2 or Applied Math 30)
- Three additional Grade 12 courses (30-1 or 30-2 levels only), which may include any of the following Alberta Ed courses, or equivalent or higher courses: Math 31, Biology 30, Physics 30, Chemistry 30, Science 30, Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2, Aboriginal Studies 30, Physical Education 30, Francais 30-1 or 30-2, Psychology 30, Sociology 30, Law 30, any 35 level additional language course, any 30-level fine arts course, any 30-level business course, or any 30-level AP course.
- An overall minimum average of 65% in the five required high school courses.
Post-Secondary Applicants:
- Completion of minimum 24 post-secondary credits or 8 post-secondary courses at an accredited institution with an Admission GPA (based on the most recent minimum 24 credits or 8 post-secondary courses) of 2.0.
Business Diploma Graduates: (for applicants who want to start at Year 3)
- Completion of a Business Administration diploma with a Graduation GPA of 2.0.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

English is the language of instruction at NAIT. To satisfy the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirement when applying to a NAIT program, you can demonstrate your proficiency in one of the following ways:

NAIT accepts the following English language proficiency tests:

IELTS Academic - Minimum score of 6.0 in each section
NAIT’s ELP Exam - Minimum score of 73% or “B” in each section
Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLB) - Minimum score of 8.0 in each section
CAEL - Minimum overall score of 60
Cambridge English Language Assessment - Minimum score of 169 in each section for B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency
TOEFL iBT - Minimum score of 20 in each section; effective Fall 2025: 70 overall score, with a minimum score of 17 in each section
Duolingo - Minimum overall score of 115, with a minimum score of 100 in each integrated subscore
Michigan English Test (MET) - Minimum overall score of 59
PTE Academic - Minimum overall score of 58
LanguageCert B2 Communicator Test - Minimum score of 38 in each section

If you have completed your education in English in a country that is not on the exempt country list, or if you completed your studies in a language other than English, you will need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency (ELP) as part of the admissions process.
