Academic Requirements

For the Master of Arts in English and Cultural Studies with a specialization in Social Justice Studies, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

Graduates must hold a recognized university degree, college, or institute qualification.
Applicants should demonstrate evidence of scholarly achievement.
A four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent is required, with at least a second class standing (B) based on the last 20 half courses or equivalent.
For applicants from countries with a British-patterned grading system, a minimum grade of B, or Second Class, Upper Division, is required.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
International applicants must provide a graded English essay from their undergraduate studies as part of the application process.
As prerequisites for graduate work, candidates must have taken or be taking at least one FCE in literary and cultural theory, such as English 2913 or its equivalent.

It is important to note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. All applicants will be advised by the Office of Graduate Studies in writing regarding their admission status.
