Combine gender studies and social justice with studies in gender, diversity, equality, and more with a Gender and Social Justice degree from Waterloo. This program allows you to explore the ways society is shaped by gender and become an advocate for equity, justice, and positive change. Throughout your studies, you will develop a deep expertise in issues of gender, diversity, equality, and social justice, while joining a highly engaged group of students who are active members of their student society and the surrounding community.

Program structure

The Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Social Justice is offered as both a co-op and a regular program, allowing students to choose the path that best suits their career goals. The program is designed to be completed in four years, with a structured approach to learning that includes:

  • First-year courses that introduce foundational concepts in Gender and Social Justice.
  • Upper-year courses where 40% of the classes will focus on Gender and Social Justice.
  • Electives from a wide range of subjects to complement your major.
  • Opportunities to customize your degree with minors available to all students.

Students can expect to alternate between study and co-op work terms, gaining real-world experience that integrates classroom learning with practical application. The program encourages exploration of a second major and offers a unique opportunity to engage with various community initiatives.
