The Certificate in Accounting at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in bookkeeping and accounting. This program serves as a stepping stone for those looking to pursue further education, such as an Accounting Diploma or a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. The curriculum is structured to provide a solid foundation in both financial and management accounting, ensuring that students are well-equipped for the workforce or advanced studies in the field.

Program structure

The Certificate in Accounting program is structured to be completed in a minimum of three semesters. Students are required to complete a total of 30 credits to earn the certificate. The program includes:

  • An intense concentration of introductory and intermediate courses in financial and management accounting.
  • One course in mathematics and one course in finance.
  • Two courses focused on taxation.

This program is aligned with the requirements for the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, the Accounting Diploma, and the CPA accounting designations. The program starts in the Fall (September), Spring (January), and Summer (May) with an open intake type, allowing flexibility for students to begin their studies at various times throughout the year.
