Program Overview
This program, created by Durham College and Ontario Tech University, is designed for students who aspire to pursue UOIT’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. It offers a unique integrated diploma-to-degree pathway, allowing students to earn both an Accounting diploma and a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree in just four years. The program begins with a solid technical foundation at Durham College, where students gain hands-on experience with leading accounting and tax software. The curriculum is taught by industry-experienced faculty and emphasizes real-world applications through practical assignments and case-based learning. Graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the accounting profession and are positioned for continued professional growth.
Program Structure
The Accounting – Business program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of four semesters. This program includes:
- In-person delivery of courses
- Hands-on experience with accounting software
- Opportunities to earn Microsoft Office Specialist certifications
- Embedded bridging courses for direct admission to Ontario Tech’s Bachelor of Commerce program
Students can choose to complete the standard two-year Accounting – Business diploma or proceed to the two-year University Transfer, which includes five university credits. This flexibility allows students to tailor their educational journey according to their career aspirations.
