Program Overview

The Early Childhood Education (Fast-Track) program at George Brown College is tailored for individuals who already possess a diploma or degree in a related field. This program equips students with essential skills and knowledge necessary for a fulfilling career in early childhood education, focusing on children aged six weeks to 12 years. The curriculum emphasizes a blend of classroom theory and practical field experience, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the diverse needs of children in various educational settings.

Program Structure

The Early Childhood Education (Fast-Track) program spans a total of 10 months, commencing with a two-week orientation course in August. The program is structured as follows:

  • August: Two-week orientation course
  • September to December: Semester 3, which includes one seven-week field placement
  • January to April: Semester 4, which also includes one seven-week field placement
  • May to June: Concludes with a final seven-week field placement

This integrated approach of alternating between in-class learning and field placements allows students to apply theoretical concepts in real-world settings, enhancing their confidence and readiness for the workforce. The program also includes opportunities for experiential learning through field placements in various early childhood education environments.
