College Diploma - Behavioural Science Technician (C146)

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Behavioural Science Technician program (C146) at George Brown College, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
• Grade 12 English (C or U).
• It is recommended, though not required, to have one of the following courses for success in the program:
  • Grade 11 Math (M or U) or Grade 12 (C or U).
  • One Science course from the following:
    • Biology, Grade 12 (U) or Grade 11 (C or U).
    • Chemistry, Grade 12 (C or U) or Grade 11 (U).
    • Physics, Grade 12 (C or U) or Grade 11 (U).

For mature students (19 years of age or older without an OSSD), they may take the Admissions Assessment for English or consider upgrading to achieve the necessary credits in English.

It is important to note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Applicants may be required to have grades higher than the minimum stated.

Students will also need to engage with technology regularly, as the program requires the use of the learning management system (Brightspace) and various software applications.

Additionally, transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

To be considered for admission to the College Diploma - Behavioural Science Technician (C146) program, applicants must provide proof of English proficiency if English is not the first language in their country. The following English language tests and their respective minimum scores are accepted:

• George Brown English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program: Level 8
• IELTS (Academic): 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill band
• TOEFL: 80 (online), with a minimum of 20 in each skill band
• Duolingo English Test: 110 overall score, with a minimum production score of 90
• MELAB: 80
• PTE (Academic): 54 overall, with a minimum of 50 in each skill band
• CAEL: 60 overall
• Cambridge English Exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency): 169 or more (with no individual skill below 162)

For applicants who do not meet the English language requirements, conditional admission may be offered through the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, subject to successful completion of the required level.
