Academic Requirements

To apply for the Esthetician program at Centennial College, students must meet the following academic requirements:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older).
• Grade 12 English (C or U), or equivalent (minimum grade required).

In addition to the academic requirements, there are specific field placement and clinical requirements that must be fulfilled after admission but prior to each program field placement:

• Obtain a clear police check with vulnerable sector screening. Vulnerable Sector Screenings must be issued within six months of each placement start date. Any previous criminal record must be pardoned.
• Successful completion and annual renewal of a recognized course in CPR (Health Care Provider level).
• Successful completion of a recognized course in standard first aid.
• Completion of a pre-clearance health form by a physician or nurse practitioner stating that they meet the health requirements of legislated acts, ministry guidelines, and agency policies.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure they meet all requirements and deadlines. For any clarification and support, please contact LOA Portal's advisors.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

All course work at Centennial College is taught in English, and success in our programs requires a high level of English language proficiency including communication, listening, comprehension, reading, and writing skills. As such, all applicants to Centennial College must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency to be admitted to their program of choice.

In order to meet the language proficiency requirement, applicants can demonstrate English proficiency through:

1. Previous education,
2. Recognized English upgrading, or
3. Recognized English proficiency tests or assessments.

Unless otherwise stated on a program’s webpage, English proficiency can be demonstrated by:

• Successfully completing two or more consecutive full years at a recognized secondary or post-secondary education institution in a school where English is the primary language of instruction and communication.
• Successfully completing a grade 12 college or university stream English course from a recognized Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) granting institution, or equivalent.

There are some diplomas and advanced diplomas that require a higher level of English (COMM 170/171).
