The Technology Entry (TE) program at BCIT is designed to provide students with the necessary academic preparation and skill enhancement to meet the entry requirements for various BCIT technology programs. This full-time, 15-week program focuses on essential subjects such as communication, mathematics, chemistry, and physics. It is particularly beneficial for those who need to upgrade their skills or obtain BC educational equivalents to supplement credentials from other educational systems. The program is delivered in a blended format, combining both in-person and online learning experiences.

The Technology Entry program is structured as follows:

Program Length: 15 weeks, full-time
Delivery Method: Blended (partly on campus and partly online)
Intakes: Two intakes per year, in September and January
Class Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Academic Requirements

For the Technology Entry (TE) program at BCIT, applicants must meet specific academic requirements to ensure they are prepared for the challenges of the program. Here are the key requirements:

English: Applicants must have two years of education in English in an English-speaking country, along with one of the following:
- Composition 11 (50%) or
- Creative Writing 11 (50%) or
- Literary Studies 11 (50%) or
- New Media 11 (50%) or
- Spoken Language 11 (50%) or
- English First Peoples 11 (50%) or
- 3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities, or social sciences (50%) from a recognized institution.
Mathematics: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Pre-Calculus 11 (60%) or
- Foundations of Math 11 (73%) or
- Acceptable equivalent high school course or
- BCIT math competency testing.
Chemistry and Physics: All TE students are required to take both chemistry and physics. The level of these courses depends on the intake:
- Fall term (September intake): Only grade 11 level chemistry and physics are offered.
- Winter term (January intake): Both grade 11 and grade 12 level chemistry and physics are offered. Applicants requiring grade 12 level courses must meet additional entrance requirements of Chemistry 11 (60%) and Physics 11 (60%).

Additionally, it is important to note that “Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.”

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score 65, No skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score 90, No section score less than 20
