Program Overview

The Sustainable Business Leadership Advanced Diploma at BCIT is a unique program designed for individuals passionate about sustainability and environmental issues. This intensive program spans 10 months and is delivered in a blended format, combining both in-person and online learning. Classes are held twice a week in the evenings, allowing students to balance their studies with other commitments. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills to lead sustainable practices in various industries, making a positive impact on their communities and the planet. With a focus on applied learning and industry connections, graduates are well-prepared to embark on fulfilling careers in sustainable business leadership.

Program Structure

The Sustainable Business Leadership Advanced Diploma is structured to provide a comprehensive education in sustainability over a 10-month period, divided into three terms:

Term 1: Foundations (September to December, 15 weeks)
Term 2: Design (January to March, 12 weeks)
Term 3: Management (April to June, 12 weeks)

Students can choose to study either full-time or part-time, with the full-time option requiring attendance two evenings a week. The program consists of:

A total of 46 credits across various courses.
A 24-week capstone project with an industry client during the final two terms, providing hands-on experience.

Academic Requirements

The Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Business Leadership at BCIT has specific Academic Requirements that applicants must meet to be considered for the program. Here are the key points to keep in mind:

Post-secondary education: Applicants must have completed a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in any discipline from BCIT or another recognized institution. Those currently enrolled in their final term must be on track to complete their program before the start date of the Sustainable Business Leadership program.
Professional experience: Alternatively, applicants with five or more years of professional business experience may qualify for alternate entry. They will need to complete a questionnaire to assess their education, experience, and interest in the program.
International applicants: This program is open to international students. A valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program. Additionally, students must complete a mandatory work component to qualify for graduation, which requires a co-op work permit.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
Prerequisite courses: Acceptance into the Sustainable Business Advanced Certificate, Sustainable Business Leadership Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor of Business Administration program is required for all courses.

To apply for the Sustainable Business Leadership program, which is an Advanced Diploma at the undergraduate level, you must demonstrate proficiency in English. The following English Language Proficiency assessments are accepted:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 5.5
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test - 70 overall band score with no component below 60
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score of 60 with no skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score of 86 with no section score less than 20
Duolingo English Test - Overall score of 120 with no integrated subscore less than 95
Cambridge Assessment English - BCIT ISEP Online test (Cambridge Linguaskill) - B2 First or C1 Advanced with minimum overall score of 176
