Academic Requirements

To apply for the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics, applicants must meet the following entrance requirements:

Post-secondary education: A four-year bachelor's degree in any field is required.
Statistics: One of the following or equivalent is required:
- 3.0 credits of post-secondary statistics, or
- OPMT 1130 - Business Statistics, or
- OPMT 1197 - Statistics for Business and Industry, or
- MATH 1060 - Statistics for Data Analysis, or
- MATH 1350 - Statistics for Information Technology.
MS Excel: One of the following (or equivalent Excel proficiency) is required:
- 3.0 credits of MS Excel, or
- BSYS 2050 - Business Data Analytics, or
- BSYS 2051 - Introduction to Business Data Analytics with MS Excel-MS 365 for Windows, or
- COMP 2364 - Microsoft Excel.
Business Management: One of the following (or equivalent management experience) is required:
- 3.0 credits of post-secondary business management, or
- BUSA 1005 - Introduction to Business, or
- BUSA 2005 - Principles of Management, or
- BUSA 7250 - Management Skills and Applications.
Self-Assessment Form: Complete the following form for submission with your online application:
- Self-Assessment [PDF] - In this form, you will describe how you meet the statistics, Excel, and business management requirements and provide information regarding your work experience.

International applicants must have their credentials evaluated by the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES) if their post-secondary studies were completed outside of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand. Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

For the Business Analytics program, which is a Graduate Certificate at the postgraduate level, applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency. The following assessments are accepted:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score of 60 with no skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score of 86 with no section score less than 20
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test - Overall band score of 70 with no component below 60
Duolingo English Test - Overall score of 120 with no integrated subscore less than 95
Cambridge Assessment English - BCIT ISEP Online test (Cambridge Linguaskill) - B2 First or C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with minimum overall score of 176

Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program you’re applying to.
