Academic Requirements

The Personal Support Worker (Living Classroom – Southbridge Cornwall, Ontario) program has specific academic requirements for admission. To be eligible, applicants must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses at the C, U, or M level. The following prerequisite courses are required:

Grade 12 English at the C or U level
Grade 11 Math

If you are missing any prerequisite courses, you may enroll in the Career/College Prep program, which is free for Ontario residents who are 19 years or older.

For international students, particularly those from Vietnam and other Asian countries, it is essential to ensure that your transcripts are evaluated appropriately. If your transcripts are from outside of Canada, please note that they may need to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Additionally, there are health requirements that must be met, including the completion of the Immunization - Communicable Disease Form, which is mandatory for clinical and practical placements. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is also required for individuals working or engaged in learning with the clinical and living classroom partner.

Students must also complete a series of mandatory program and agency-specific pre-placement requirements, including:

Standard First Aid & CPR Level BLS Certification
Police Record Check – Vulnerable Sector Screening

It is important to note that certain criminal convictions may prevent a student from participating or completing placements for this program. Applicants with criminal records should contact the Associate Dean of the respective school to discuss their eligibility.
