Program Overview

Sheridan’s Practical Nursing program is designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to thrive in the expanding field of nursing. This program is approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario, allowing graduates to apply for the Regulatory Exam-Practical Nurse (REx-PN) upon completion. Successful candidates will receive a license to practice as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience, ensuring that students are well-prepared to provide quality care across various healthcare settings.

Program Structure

The Practical Nursing program at Sheridan spans a duration of 2 years, consisting of 4 semesters. Students have the option to fast-track their studies by starting in January or May, allowing them to complete the program in just 16 months. The program structure includes:

  • Hands-on clinical placements starting from the first semester.
  • A comprehensive 450-hour clinical placement in the final semester.
  • State-of-the-art Nursing Lab designed to simulate real hospital environments.
  • Learning from experienced Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in co-op placements, enhancing their practical experience and employability upon graduation.
