Dual Degree - Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics & Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior (PE)

Academic Requirements

For the Dual Degree - Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics & Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior (PE) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

• Minimum GPA: A minimum overall average of 70% is required.
• High School Applicants:
  • Minimum 70% on 6 4U and/or 4M courses, including prerequisites for the degree program applied to.
  • Minimum 70% in ENG4U.
  • Minimum 60% in 3U or 3M Mathematics.
• University Transfer Applicants:
  • Completion of a minimum of 18 credits of undergraduate study, and no more than 72 university credits (including transfer/advanced standing credits).
  • Applications must be submitted by April 1.
  • A minimum overall average of 70% on all university courses completed is required.
  • Completion of a 3U or 3M Mathematics (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of 60% is also required.
• College Transfer Applicants:
  • Successful completion of a minimum of one full year at the college level with a minimum overall GPA of 70%.
  • Applications must be submitted by April 1.
  • Applicants must present a minimum of 70% in one semester of English or Communications at the college level or ENG4U from high school.
  • A minimum 60% in one semester of Mathematics at the college level or a 3U or 3M Mathematics from high school is also required.
• Early Childhood Diploma Graduates:
  • Successful completion of an ECE diploma with a minimum overall GPA of 70%.
  • Applications must be submitted by April 1.
  • Applicants must present a minimum of 70% in one semester of English or Communications at the college level or ENG4U from high school.
  • A minimum 60% in one semester of Mathematics at the college level or a 3U or 3M Mathematics from high school is also required.
• Nipissing University Students – Upper Year Admission:
  • Completion of a minimum of 18 credits of undergraduate study at Nipissing University, and no more than 72 university credits (including transfer/advanced standing credits).
  • Applications must be submitted by April 1.
  • A minimum overall average of 70% on all university courses completed is required.
  • Completion of a 3U or 3M Mathematics (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of 60% is also required.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

Applicants to programs offered at Nipissing University whose first language is not English will be required to achieve the required proficiency level on one of the following tests of English language proficiency for admission consideration.

• IELTS: 6.5 - No bands less than 6
• TOEFL IBT: 83 with a minimum score of 20 in reading, listening, and writing, and a minimum score of 22 in speaking
• PTE - Pearson Test of Academic English: 58 with a minimum score of 56 in each section
• CAE - Cambridge Assessment English: C1 minimum overall score of 176 with a minimum score of 169
• CAEL/CAEL Online - Online Canadian Academic English Language: 60 with no band less than 60

These tests are essential for ensuring that all students have the necessary English language skills to succeed in their studies at Nipissing University.
