As a Dental Assistant, you will play a key role in a dental practice, equipped with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to help patients achieve their oral health goals. This program is designed for individuals who have an aptitude for meticulous work and a desire to be part of an integrated healthcare team that provides oral care to individuals of all ages. The Dental Assisting (Levels I and II) program at Niagara College Canada offers a comprehensive education that prepares students for a rewarding career in the dental field.

Program structure

The Dental Assisting (Levels I and II) program is a 1-year certificate program offered at the Welland campus of Niagara College. This competitive program includes:

  • Over 400 hours of hands-on, experiential learning in modern, fully-operational dental clinics and labs.
  • A unique interprofessional education experience in both classroom and clinical environments.
  • Practical experience through a dental office field placement, allowing students to combine theory with real-world practice.
  • Accreditation by the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC).

Graduates of this program are eligible to write the entry to practice National Dental Assisting Examination Board (NDAEB) exam, followed by certification by the Ontario Dental Assistants Association upon successful completion of the NDAEB exam.
