Academic Requirements

To gain admission into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program, all students must demonstrate the capacity to meet the College of Nurses Requisite Skills and Abilities for Nursing Practice in Ontario.

For Ontario High School Applicants, the following program prerequisites are required:

1 grade 12 English U/M course
1 grade 12 U/M Math
1 grade 12 U Biology
1 grade 12 U Chemistry
2 other grade 12 U/M courses

Additionally, a minimum overall average of 75% in the 6 best grade 12 U/M courses is required.

For international students, it is important to note that a required document for entry into the clinical placement setting is a co-op work permit. This permit must be uploaded to a secure portal before the first day of the Fall semester.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

For applicants from outside an Ontario High School, additional information is available, and it is advisable to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support.

It is also important to note that mature students without a post-secondary degree are ineligible for the English BScN program.

Once accepted into the English BScN Program, all students are required to upload a set of documents to a secure portal by a specific deadline in order to be eligible for the clinical placement component of the course.

Language Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Science - Nursing program at Laurentian University, you must meet the following English language proficiency requirements:

Internet-based TOEFL (iBT & iBT @ Home Edition) - Minimum score: 88 overall
IELTS Academic - Minimum score: 6.5 overall, with no band lower than 6.0
Cambridge Assessment English - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a Cambridge Score of 176 or more
CAEL - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment - Minimum score: 70 overall, with no part below 60
CanTEST - Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees - Minimum score: 4.5 overall, with no part below 4
PTE Academic - Pearson Test of English - Minimum score: 60 overall
DuoLingo English Test - Minimum score: 125 overall, with no individual subscore in Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening lower than 110
