Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering program, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

A minimum overall average of 70% is required for entry into the program and must be maintained.
Program Prerequisites for Ontario High School Applicants include:
- 1 grade 12 English U/M course
- 1 grade 12 4U Advanced Functions
- 1 grade 12 4U Physics
- 1 grade 12 4U Chemistry
- 1 additional grade 12 U/M Math or Science
- 1 other grade 12 U/M course
For entry into Work Term 1, students must have completed all required core courses from the 2nd year of the program.
For entry into Work Terms 2, 3, 4, and 5, students must have completed all required core courses from the 3rd year of the program.
Admission is based on academic performance and individual interviews, evaluating factors such as motivation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

International students must fill out the International Application Form. It is advised to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support regarding the application process.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

If English is not your first language or mother tongue, you should provide evidence of your English language proficiency through one of the entry requirements or language tests below.

Internet-based TOEFL (iBT & iBT @ Home Edition) - Minimum score: 88 overall
IELTS Academic - Minimum score: 6.5 overall, with no band lower than 6.0
Cambridge Assessment English - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a Cambridge Score of 176 or more
CAEL - Minimum score: 70 overall, with no part below 60
Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees - CanTEST - Minimum score: 4.5 overall, with no part below 4
PTE Academic - Minimum score: 60 overall
DuoLingo English Test - Minimum score: 125 overall, with no individual subscore in Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening lower than 110

Academically admissible applicants who do not present appropriate English Proficiency Requirements will be automatically offered a conditional offer of admission based on completion of the English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program in Laurentian University’s Language Institute.
