Program Overview

The Entrepreneurship and Small Business – Business – Transfer to Ontario Tech University Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) program is a collaborative initiative between Durham College (DC) and Ontario Tech University (UOIT). This program is designed for individuals aspiring to pursue UOIT’s Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree. It offers a unique pathway that allows students to earn both a diploma and a degree in just four years. Students will engage in a comprehensive business education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experiences, focusing on entrepreneurship and small business development.

Program Structure

The program is structured over a duration of four semesters, providing a blend of in-person learning and practical experiences. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Joint diploma-to-degree pathway with Ontario Tech University.
  • Embedded bridging courses for direct admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) program.
  • Opportunity to apply directly to the third year of the degree program for students maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Flexibility to choose between completing the college-only curriculum or proceeding with the university transfer option.
  • Access to mentorship and business plan development activities.

Students will be registered at both Durham College and Ontario Tech University, allowing them to benefit from resources and opportunities at both institutions. The program is designed to prepare students for a successful career in business, with a focus on entrepreneurship.
