Academic Requirements

To apply for the Liberal Arts program at Centennial College, students must meet the following academic requirements:

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older).
• Grade 12 English (C or U), or equivalent (minimum grade required).

For international students, it is important to note that:

• Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Additionally, students interested in transitioning to York University must:

• Successfully complete Centennial College’s Liberal Arts diploma program with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (B or 70%).
• Meet any York University specified prerequisites (based on degree major).

English Language Proficiency Requirements

At Centennial College, all course work is conducted in English, and achieving success in our programs necessitates a high level of English language proficiency. This includes essential skills such as communication, listening, comprehension, reading, and writing. Therefore, all applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency to gain admission to their chosen program.

Applicants can fulfill the language proficiency requirement through the following methods:

1. Previous education
2. Recognized English upgrading
3. Recognized English proficiency tests or assessments

To demonstrate English proficiency through previous education, applicants can:

• Successfully complete two or more consecutive full years at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction.
• Complete a grade 12 college or university stream English course from a recognized Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) granting institution, or equivalent.
