Program Overview

The Public Administration Diploma at Camosun College is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in public administration. This program emphasizes management skills over policy orientation, focusing on essential areas such as strategic planning, financial management, leadership, communication, and negotiation. Students will acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to enter the public administration field as beginning practitioners. The program is open to international students and offers flexible start dates in September, January, or May.

Program Structure

The Public Administration Diploma program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of 2 years. The program includes:

  • Delivery in a blended format, combining online and face-to-face instruction.
  • Options for full-time or part-time study.
  • Co-op and internship opportunities to gain practical experience.
  • A total of 20 courses, with classes held predominantly at the Interurban campus.

This well-rounded program is designed to equip students with relevant and applied content, ensuring they are prepared for various roles in public administration. Students can also choose to continue their education with further studies in related fields such as Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resource Management & Leadership, or Marketing.

  • Co-operative Education Option: Students can apply classroom skills in real-world settings, alternating between full-time studies and full-time paid work.
  • Engagement in co-operative education requires the completion of eight first-year courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and the Career Development-Workplace Preparation Skills course.
