Academic Requirements

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science (BScACS) program has specific Academic Requirements that applicants must meet to be considered for enrollment. Here are the key points regarding the admission process:

Pre-entry Assessment: Applicants must undergo a pre-assessment with the program area to identify any necessary pre-entry courses and have their work experience reviewed prior to applying.
Post-secondary Education: A minimum of 60.0 credits of post-secondary education in Computing from a recognized institution is required. This includes:
- 6.0 credits of English or communications
- 6.0 credits of math, with at least 3.0 credits in discrete math
- 3.0 credits of statistics
- 27.0 credits of computing, with a minimum of 3.0 credits in each of the following courses:
  - Algorithms and data structures
  - Computer architecture
  - Database
  - Data communications and networking
  - Object-oriented programming
  - Procedural programming
  - Systems analysis and design
- 18.0 credits of general education and/or other computing courses.
International Applicants: This program is open to international students. A valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program.
Credential Evaluation: Applicants who have completed post-secondary studies outside of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand will require a comprehensive evaluation of their credentials by the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES).
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
