Academic Requirements

To apply for the University of Manitoba as an international student from high school with no previous post-secondary experience, you must meet the following Academic Requirements:

You must demonstrate English language proficiency.
You must meet one of the following requirements:
1. General admission requirement based on your country of study.
2. General admission requirement based on your curriculum of study (International Baccalaureate (IB) or British patterned Education (GCE)).
You must meet program-specific requirements based on your program(s) of choice. Check your country below for program-specific equivalencies, or contact the University admissions office for details.

For students from Vietnam, the general admission requirement is the Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông (Graduation Diploma for General Upper Secondary Education).

For students from other Asian countries, the requirements vary by country. For example, students from India must have a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent.

It is important to note that transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

- Minimum score of 6.0 in each of the four modules (listening, reading, speaking, writing)
- IELTS One Skill Retake results are accepted by the Undergraduate Admissions Office, University of Manitoba
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Assessment) - Online or Test Centre
- Minimum score required: 60
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Paper Edition or TOEFL iBT Home Edition (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- Minimum overall score of 86, and
- Minimum component scores:
  - 20 in Reading

  - 20 in Speaking
Cambridge Assessment English: C1 Advanced
- Minimum score required: 180
Cambridge Assessment English: C2 Proficiency
- Minimum score required: 180
Pearson Test of English
- Minimum score required: 58
Duolingo English Test
- Minimum overall score of 120, and
- Minimum component scores:
  - 105 in Literacy
  - 105 in Comprehension
  - 105 in Production
  - 105 in Conversation
