Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Commerce program at York University, prospective students must meet specific Academic Requirements. It is important to note that York University is a highly selective institution, and merely meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Only the most qualified candidates will be considered for admission.

Here are the Academic Requirements for international students:

• For students from Vietnam:
  • Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông/Senior School Graduation Certificate is required.
• For students from other Asian countries:
  • Successful completion of secondary education equivalent to the Canadian Grade 12 diploma is required.

Additionally, transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases. It is advisable for students to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support regarding the application process and requirements.

Language Requirements

To gain admission to the Bachelor of Commerce program, you must demonstrate English language proficiency by presenting a minimum proficiency score on an accepted language test. The following English language tests are accepted:

• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): iBT score of 88
• IELTS (International English Language Testing Service, Academic Module): score of 6.5
• Pearson PTE Academic: score of 60
• Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): score of 60
• Cambridge English Language Assessment (CAE, CPE): C1 Advanced (no score below 180)
• Duolingo: score of 120

Please note: The IELTS Academic test is required for admission to York University. IELTS General will not be accepted for language proficiency requirements.

English proficiency tests are valid for a period of two years. If you have completed four full years of study in English at an accredited high school in Canada or in a country where English is the official primary language, you may not be required to submit proof of English proficiency.
