Program Overview

The Preparatory Music program at Vancouver Community College (VCC) is designed for students who wish to build a strong foundation before entering post-secondary music studies. Whether you're an aspiring performer, composer, or teacher, this program offers an intensive, supportive environment to strengthen your technical skills, music theory, and performance experience. With personalized instruction from experienced faculty and ample performance opportunities, students can confidently transition into more advanced music programs, including VCC’s Diploma or Degree options in music. This is a great choice if you’re returning to music studies or switching into music from another academic field.

Program Structure

The 8-month Preparatory Music program is delivered over two academic terms and is ideal for students aiming to meet admission requirements for music diploma or degree programs. Students receive one-on-one instruction, ensemble experience, and academic classes in theory, ear training, and history.

You will:

  • Study music theory and musicianship at the college-entry level
  • Participate in masterclasses and ensembles

  • Perform in juries and recitals for performance practice

Program Options:

Not available with Kì Thực Tập Có Lương, but serves as a foundation to enter diploma or degree-level music programs.
