Program overview

Combine gender studies and social justice with a focus on gender, diversity, and equality through the Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Social Justice at Waterloo. This program empowers students to become advocates for equity and positive change, exploring how gender and sex influence various aspects of life. Students will engage with a vibrant community, including the Women’s Centre and the Glow Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity, while developing a deep understanding of critical social issues.

Program structure

The Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Social Justice is designed to provide a comprehensive education over a four-year period. The program structure includes:

  • First-year courses that introduce foundational concepts in Gender and Social Justice.
  • 40% of upper-year classes will focus on Gender and Social Justice topics.
  • Options to study through either Honours Arts or Honours Arts and Business.
  • Electives available from over 100 subject areas at Waterloo.
  • Co-op program available, allowing students to gain practical work experience.

Students can customize their degree by adding minors and are encouraged to explore various interests during their studies. The program also emphasizes the integration of classroom learning with real-world experiences through co-op placements.
