Program overview

In the Honours Arts and Business program at Waterloo, students gain expertise in two areas: their chosen Arts major and essential business skills. This unique combination allows students to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree while pursuing their passions. With the flexibility to select from 28 majors, students can tailor their education to fit their interests. The program also offers the opportunity to enhance their degree with a second honours major or a minor, ensuring a well-rounded academic experience. Students can choose to complete the program in the regular system of study over four years or opt for a co-op program that integrates valuable work experience into their education.

Program structure

The Honours Arts and Business program is designed to provide a comprehensive education over a period of four years. Students can choose to participate in a co-op program, which adds approximately 20 months of work experience to their academic journey. The program structure includes:

  • First-year courses that allow students to explore their interests before selecting a major.
  • Approximately 40% of the curriculum focuses on the honours major, while 30% is dedicated to business courses.
  • Electives from a wide range of subjects, allowing for a customized educational experience.
  • Co-op work terms starting in the second year, alternating between study and work every four months.

This structure not only prepares students academically but also equips them with practical skills through real-world experiences, making them competitive in the job market.
