Program overview

The Honours Bachelor of Public Relations is a dynamic program offered by the Department of Communication at the University of Ottawa. This program is a joint initiative with Algonquin College, providing students with a comprehensive education in public relations. With a growing demand for skilled professionals in the public relations industry across Canada, this program prepares students for a variety of roles, including developing communication strategies, organizing events, and managing crises. The program is available in both English and French, catering to a diverse student body and ensuring a rich learning experience.

Program structure

The Honours Bachelor of Public Relations program is designed to be completed in two main pathways:

  • Complete 60 units at the University of Ottawa (four sessions) and then transfer to Algonquin College to finish the diploma program in public relations. Note that Algonquin College has a limit of 25 students for this stream, and a minimum average of 70% is required for admission.
  • Start at Algonquin College, completing two years in public relations while maintaining a minimum average of 70%, and then transfer to the University of Ottawa for an additional 60 units (four sessions). There are no registration limits for this pathway.

This program offers a flexible structure that allows students to choose the path that best suits their educational and career goals. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of public relations, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.
