Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - History (OVF) (French Immersion) program at the University of Ottawa, applicants must meet specific Academic Requirements. Here are the key points:

International students, particularly those from Vietnam, should ensure they have the following:

Have received or be in the process of receiving your Senior High School Certificate - Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông.
Have passed the prerequisites for the program of study (minimum of 5/10 required).
Have a minimum average of 7.5/10 and have passed five subjects (including the prerequisites) in the senior year.

For those who have taken postsecondary courses, the following requirements apply:

Have a minimum average of 70% (requirements might be higher depending on the program of study).
Have passed the prerequisites for the program of study (minimum of 5/10 required).

Additionally, please note that transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

For students interested in the French Immersion Stream, proof of language proficiency is required, such as having completed a French course in the last three years or the results of a French-language proficiency test (minimum level of B1 is required). Passing the Immersion Entry Test is also necessary to confirm eligibility for this stream.

Language Requirements

If you’re applying for an English-language program and have not completed at least three years of full-time study in an institution where English is the only language of instruction (aside from in language courses) in a country where English is an official language, you must submit your official score in one of the following language tests. The official results must be sent directly to us online from the test centre.

In order to be considered for a program offered in English at the University of Ottawa, you must demonstrate that you are sufficiently proficient in the language to follow a postsecondary academic program. Please note that citizenship is not considered when evaluating English proficiency. To show that your English proficiency is at the academic level required for university studies, provide proof of either:

Postsecondary studies in English; or
Last three years of high school taken in English (Grades 10, 11 or 12)

Remember: Language requirements are not based on citizenship. They are based on your country of study.
