Academic Requirements

The University of Guelph has specific Academic Requirements for international students applying to the Bachelor of Arts - Psychology program. Here are the key points to consider:

• The secondary school graduation certificate that qualifies a student for admission to an internationally recognized university in their home country is generally acceptable.
• Meeting the minimum Academic Requirements does not guarantee admission.
• Prerequisite course requirements must be fulfilled to be eligible for the degree program. For the Bachelor of Arts - Psychology, the following courses are required:
  • English
  • 5 additional courses
• Students presenting predicted, interim, or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meet the minimum grade requirements.
• For students from Vietnam, the Bàng Tót Nghiêp Phó Thông Trung Hoc (Upper Secondary School Graduation Certificate) with a minimum of 8 is required.

Language Requirements

The University of Guelph requires proof of English proficiency for applicants whose primary language is not English and who have had less than four years of full-time secondary or post-secondary study in an English-language school system.

The following English proficiency tests are accepted:

• Advanced Level of the English Language Certificate Program (ELCP) - Successful completion of the University of Guelph’s Open Learning Advanced Level of the English Language Certificate Program (ELCP) (levels 9 and 10).
• Cambridge English: C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency - Minimum overall score of 176 with no band less than 169.
• Canadian Academic English (CAEL) - Minimum overall band score of 70 for both paper and computer-based tests.
• Duolingo English Test - Minimum overall score of 110; individual subscores may be considered.
• International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS - Academic) - Minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6 for both paper and computer-based tests.
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Minimum overall score of 60 with no score less than 60 in the individual components.
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Minimum total score of 89 with no individual scaled score less than 21 for both internet-based and home-edition tests.
