The Mechanical Technician – Industrial Millwright program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a 2-year period. The program includes:

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Mechanical Technician – Industrial Millwright diploma program, students must meet the following academic requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, with the following required courses:
- One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U)
- One Math, Grade 11 or 12 (C, M or U)
Alternatively, applicants may qualify through mature student status.

Eligible applicants will be selected based on their previous academic achievement, specifically the average of their six highest senior-level credits, including the required courses.

For applicants who do not meet the admission requirements, there may be an opportunity to complete pre-admission tests in math and English to demonstrate proficiency. It is advisable for applicants lacking the English or math admission requirement to consider upgrading their mathematics prior to application.

International students, including those from Vietnam and other Asian countries, are encouraged to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support regarding their specific requirements.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

All applicants to Sheridan must demonstrate English-language proficiency. The following English-language proficiency tests are accepted for the Mechanical Technician – Industrial Millwright program:

Sheridan’s EAP program: Level 5 (formerly English for Academic Purposes)
- Certificate or Diploma program requirement: A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing.
- Degree, Master’s and Graduate Certificate program requirement: A minimum score of 75% in listening and speaking and 75% in reading and writing.
IELTS Academic Level:
- Certificate or Diploma program requirement: Overall score 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5.
- Degree, Master’s and Graduate Certificate program requirement: Overall score 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0.
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language):
- Certificate or Diploma program requirement: Overall score 60 with no individual section below 50.
- Degree, Master’s and Graduate Certificate program requirement: Overall score 70 with no individual section below 60.
Duolingo English Language Test:
- Certificate or Diploma program requirement: Overall score of 105 with no integrated subscore lower than 85.
- Degree, Master’s and Graduate Certificate program requirement: Overall score of 115 with no integrated subscore lower than 95.
TOEFL iBT:
- Certificate or Diploma program requirement: Overall score 80 with no individual section below 20.
- Degree, Master’s and Graduate Certificate program requirement: Overall score 88 with no individual section below 21.
