Seneca's Paralegal program prepares students to write the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) licensing examination, enabling them to become licensed paralegals in Ontario. This unique two-year diploma program focuses on providing specified legal services directly to the public without the supervision of a lawyer. Students will gain essential skills in legal ethics, small-business practice, and effective communication, which are critical for success in various legal environments. Graduates will be equipped to work in law firms, government settings, or as self-employed professionals.

Program structure

The Paralegal program at Seneca is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of 4 semesters (2 years). The program is delivered in-person at the Seneca@York campus, ensuring students receive hands-on experience and direct interaction with faculty and peers. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Field Placement: A four-week unpaid field placement at the end of the final examinations in the fourth semester, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings.
