Seneca's Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to support the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs of children from infancy to school age. This comprehensive program emphasizes the development and implementation of inclusive programming that fosters healthy child development. Students will engage in a variety of learning experiences that prepare them to become effective educators in diverse settings.

Program structure

The Early Childhood Education diploma program at Seneca is structured over a duration of 4 semesters (2 years). Students have the flexibility to choose between full-time and part-time study options, with the possibility of completing the program in as little as 16 months if they opt to study during the summer. The program is available through various delivery methods, including:

  • In-person at King and Newnham campuses
  • Online

Field placement is a crucial component of the program, providing students with over 500 hours of practical experience in various childcare and early years professional settings. This hands-on experience allows students to integrate their classroom learning into real-world practice. Additionally, graduates who meet GPA requirements may pursue internal pathway opportunities at Seneca, including further studies in the Honours Bachelor of Child Development and Honours Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies.
