Program Overview

The Medical Laboratory Technology program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers an Advanced Diploma in a competitive admission environment. This program is designed for those interested in the science and technology of health care, preparing students to work as medical laboratory technologists. Students will engage in a dynamic diagnostic environment, performing complex procedures and tests on various human specimens. Program Structure

The Medical Laboratory Technology program spans a total of 104 weeks, divided into three years:

  • Year 1: 41 weeks
  • Year 2: 41 weeks
  • Year 3: 22 weeks

This nationally accredited program combines classroom theory, lab work, and clinical experiences. Students will:

  • Participate in hands-on training in labs.
  • Engage in clinical practicum experiences in hospitals and laboratories across Saskatchewan.
  • Gain specific laboratory experiences and develop organizational skills.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to ladder their advanced diploma into a degree program at institutions such as the University of Regina or Athabasca University. The program also recognizes the Canadian Armed Forces, allowing eligible students to qualify for subsidized education.
