Program Overview
The Electrical Trade and Technology program at SAIT is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to thrive as professional electricians in Canada’s vibrant construction industry. This two-year diploma program emphasizes hands-on learning and theoretical understanding, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the electrical trade. Program Structure
The Electrical Trade and Technology program spans a duration of 2 years and is structured to provide a comprehensive educational experience. The program includes:
- Two to three semesters in the first year, depending on the optional work term.
- Two semesters in the second year.

- Optional co-op work term to gain real-world experience.
This program is delivered in-person at the Main Campus, allowing students to engage directly with instructors and peers. The curriculum aligns with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) standards, preparing students for the AIT exams relevant to their studies. Graduates will also have the opportunity to pursue a journeyperson's certificate and Red-Seal certification upon completion of their apprenticeship.
